Report writing tips

Reports are becoming more and more popular in colleges. The reason for that is that it is a really good way for students to engage with practice and see their abilities working in real world and business. Making reports is a substantial part of the work of people of different professions and that is why it is important to learn how to do them effectively while still in college. There are numerous kinds of reports. First of all there are practical and theoretical reports. The first ones are the reports people write for their jobs and the latter ones are used for studying purposes. Academic reports (which are the main topic for this article) are also divided into different categories: reports of a field trip or field work, reports of industrial visit, medical reports, reports on business, technical reports etc. But all these reports despite of all their differences have something in common. The knowledge of some general tips may help you to make your report good no matter what kind of report it is. First of all think about the audience for your report and answer the questions about them. What do they know about the topic? What do they need to learn? What do they want to know? After that you need to analyze the task of your report, which will help you to realize how vast and how complicated it should be. The next thing you need to consider is to make a good structure and format of your report. It will definitely make your report more effective and the audience will be really thankful for easy-understandable format. Be sure to make a sufficient research before you start writing the report. Make sure all the sources are reliable. Never forget to review your paper. It is always good to take a look through it after the paper is done and be sure it will most likely need some corrections. Make sure the entire report is written either in active or in passive voice. If you need to present your report remember to keep it as simple as possible so that the audience will understand everything. Restate all the most important points in the summary and provide the adjustments you think are suitable. These tips are only a partial help for you, but once you follow all of them and adjust your report according to them you will be more then likely to receive good grade and succeed.

Getting Away with Murder Aaron - 1464 Words

Getting Away with Murder Aaron Getting Away with Murder Aaron McKinney was recently convicted of second-degree murder for his role in the fatal bludgeoning of Matthew Shepard on October 6th of last year. During the opening statements of his trial, McKinneys attorneys argued that a homosexual advance from Shepard brought back a traumatic childhood experience which triggered five minutes of emotional rage and chaos (Cart Rests 1). The claim invoked, which was ultimately rejected by the judge presiding over the case, is known as the homosexual-panic or gay-panic defense. According to the Harvard Law Review, this defense, a manifestation of the temporary insanity plea, is premised on the theory that a person with latent†¦show more content†¦In 1996, Henry Adams, a psychologist at the University of Georgia, devised a way to see if gay bashing was related to suppressed homosexual urges. He recruited a group of men between the ages of 18 and 31, categorizing them as either homophobic or non-homophobic. They were then shown explicit erotic videos depicting straight, gay and lesbian sex, during which penile circumference was measured by a plethysmograph. As a result of the video depicting gay sex, eighty percent of the homophobic participants showed moderate to definite tumescense as compared to thirty percent of the non-homophobic subjects (Stryker 5). Professor Adams concluded that most homophobes demonstrate significant arousal to homosexual erotic stimuli, suggesting that homophobia is a form of latent homosexuality where persons are either unaware or deny their homosexual urges (Adams 441; Antigay 1). The homosexual panic defense is based on the theory that homophobic men may actually have repressed homosexual urges. Homophobia is often indicative of self-loathing homosexual feelings; many homophobes subconsciously use anti-gay attitudes as a disguise for their own homosexuality. Voltaires Candide Through My Present Day View Essay

The world as I see it is not perfect. In this present day and age there are some people that like to believe that god created a beautiful planet, but I believe the devil should receive some credit for its creation also. One of the world’s greatest satires, Candide by Voltaire, some characters feel the same way that I do. However others do not. Martin, a skeptic thinks this is not â€Å"the best of all possible worlds† (â€Å"Candide†102), as Dr. Pangloss would say. My present worldview is more close to the view of the eighteenth century character Martin, in the book Candide. Martin, an old philosopher who embarked with candide shows strong pessimistic views. Candide is pretty much a follower and is not a very intelligent man. He looks up to Dr.†¦show more content†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Candide8). This is one of the experiences that candide goes trough that makes it hard to believe that this was the best of all possible worlds, as Pangloss constantly assures him. Pers onally, I would accept this situation. This world is plagued with pestilences of great measure. I have had friends die of diseases and I just accept the fact that it happens. Earlier Candide falls in love with a woman named Cunegonde. Cunegonde dies, but comes back later on in the book. From meeting with Pangloss, Candide learns that Cunegonde died earlier. In a situation like that I would react as Candide did. However, death is a part of life. Sadly, in real life people just don’t come back a couple of weeks later. I have had many friends and family die, and I know how that feels. Later on in the book, in France (Candide XXII), Candide cheated on Cunegonde while she was supposedly sick in a hotel. It turned out that the woman in the bed was not Cunegonde. If I were in a scenario like that, where I am faced with a chance to cheat on a woman I loved I probably would not do it. I have cheated on various girlfriends before, but I hardly loved any of them. That is how messed up this world is. In Europe, Candide ran in a guantlet in Bulgaria. He was beat countless times by men. This situation shows how he is a follower, and a foolish man for going through something harmfull for no reason. â€Å"Instantly they fettered him, and carried him away to theShow MoreRelatedThe s Candide And The Old Woman Arrive Of Cadiz, And Of Their Embarkation1422 Words   |  6 PagesVoltaire’s Candide, or Optimism is widely regarded as a work of the enlightenment period and offers a satire on philosophy, religion and current events (of the time). These include; the hero being a figure of great importance, the setting is ample in scale being worldwide, action involves superhuman deeds, the gods and other supernatural beings take an interest, a style of sustained elevation and poet attaining a measure of objective. There is also a thing called an epic cycle. An epic cycle is a collection of epic poetry written by different poets in the 7th and 6th centuries BC and sometimes, but rarely, attributed to Homer, They were always arranged in chronological order of subject, extending from the beginning to the world to the end of the heroic age, The only surviving epic cycles include Homers Iliad and Odyssey, Although many were written to be a single story, the poems came together to make an overall story, The poetry of pantywaist represents the end of this phase in epic poetry.
